The 2019 Outlander PHEV differs from the 2019 Outlander in several aspects, the biggest being their power sources, and their seating configuration. While the Outlander PHEV seats five passengers, the Outlander offers three rows of seating for up to 7 passengers.

How does the Outlander PHEV work?

The Outlander PHEV model’s system uses two 60kW electric motors at the front and rear axels. For all-electric driving, the Outlander PHEV utilizes its 12kWh lithium-ion main drive battery. Should the battery run out or the vehicle needs additional power, the Outlander PHEV switches to its hybrid driving mde, using an efficient 2.0-liter gas engine.


 

Is the Outlander PHEV better for the environment?

When in its EV mode, the Outlander PHEV is an eco-friendly vehicle with power coming only from the main drive battery. While running on its battery (100% electric power), the Outlander PHEV produces zero emissions, creating a low environmental impact.
